– 1 – Neutrinoless Double - Β Decay

Neutrinoless double-beta (0νββ) decay would signal violation of total lepton number conservation. The process can be mediated by an exchange of a light Majorana neutrino, or by an exchange of other particles. However, the existence of 0νββ decay requires Majorana neutrino mass, no matter what the actual mechanism is. As long as only a limit on the lifetime is available, limits on the effective ...

Neutrinoless Double Β-decay 1

The neutrinoless double β-decay is reviewed. Model independent evidence in favor of neutrino masses and mixing is briefly summarized. The data of the recent experiments on the search for 0νββ-decay are presented and some future experiments are discussed. The possible values of the effective Majorana mass, which can be predicted on the basis of the neutrino oscillation data under different assum...

Jastrow functions in double-β decay

We use simple analytic considerations and a Monte Carlo calculation of nucleons in a box to argue that the use of Jastrow functions as short-range correlators in the commonly employed two-body cluster approximation causes significant errors in the matrix elements for double-β decay. The Jastrow approach appears to agree with others, however, if many-body clusters are included. A careful treatme...

Neutrino oscillations and neutrinoless double-β decay

We consider the scheme with mixing of three neutrinos and a mass hierarchy. We shown that, under the natural assumptions that massive neutrinos are Majorana particles and there are no unlikely fine-tuned cancellations among the contributions of the different neutrino masses, the results of solar neutrino experiments imply a lower bound for the effective Majorana mass in neutrinoless double-β de...

Comments on BPS Bound State Decay

In N=2 SYM theory with matter non-conservation of the S-charge of a BPS state under monodromies leads to so-called BPS state “decay”. A mechanism for such a behavior on the semiclassical level could be established through consideration of soliton-fermion bound state. Solutions to classical equations of motion allow to observe the BPS state “decay” in vivo.
